What is Micro-needling?

Micro-needling can be used for a variety of treatments, including rejuvenating the skin and minimizing the appearance of scars. Micro-needling, as the name suggests, utilizes micro needles to puncture the skin at a superficial level. The punctures are small enough and shallow enough that they do not damage the skin, they simply kick start the skin’s natural collagen production.

Collagen is the main structural protein found in our skin, and as we age our bodies produce less and less collagen. This results in decreased elasticity and makes it hard for our skin to bounce back from injury, which causes scarring. Micro-needling forces the body to produce collagen, so elasticity is increased and the skin begins to heal itself, which reduces scars.

Micro-needling can be used on the face to treat:

  • Acne scars
  • Age spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores

How Many Micro-Needling Treatments will I need?

Benefits of the Micro-Needling can be seen after one treatment. However, it is recommended that you have 3 to 6 treatments, spaced out between 3 to 4 weeks for maximum results. Our skin care specialists will consult with you and prepare a package and regime specifically for your skin type and concern.  We offer single sessions or packages of 3 or 6 sessions.

What can you Expect after a Treatment?

After your Micro-Needling treatment, please be aware and observe the following:

  • Immediately after your treatment, you will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This is normal and will subside after 1 to 2 hours and will normally recover within the same day or 24 hours. You may see slight redness after 24 hours but only in minimal areas or spots.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 24 hours due to open pores
  • Restart regular skin care regimen in 48 hours and Retinol products in 72 hours

CHEMICAL PEELS

Don’t let the term “chemical peel” scare you away. A chemical peel is a treatment used to exfoliate dead skin cells and stimulate new skin cells to come to the surface, making your skin appear healthier and more youthful. If you’ve ever wondered how some of your favorite celebrities seem to look so flawless all the time they likely owe their glow to chemical peels. Many people are looking for a simple way to improve their skin without surgery or a facelift. Aging and sun-damaged skin may develop redness, blemishes, facial veins and pigment, deep wrinkles, cancerous or precancerous lesions or spotting. The chemical peel procedure uses a chemical solution, to ‘peel’ away the top layers of the epidermis in order to improve conditions such as acne, irregular pigmentation or wrinkles. Chemical peels have been in use for a number of years and are a highly popular way to improve the texture and look of skin.
